FUNCTION

555-01
The processing unit is a multi-tasking system which uses the OS-9 operating system and is built around the 68000 microprocessor. It contains 512 Kbytes of PROM memory and 256 Kbytes of RAM memory. It controls the whole DFR system, transfers data from the acquisition memory to the peripheral equipment (printer, modem) and provides the user interface (LCD + keyboard). It contains a keyboard and display interface (for the PCB 5737 module) and a real time clock with a 10 ms resolution.

A monitoring (watchdog) system protects the system from unrecoverable errors.

551-02
This re-designed PCB retains all the functionality of the -01 version, but has increased memory capacity (for EPROM storage), and no longer requires a +/- 12 VDC source.

It is an exact replacement for the earlier part.

WARNING! The RESET button on the card is not to be used under any circumstances because this would lead to the loss of all the data in the acquisition memory.

557-01
This board was released as part of a major functionality improvement in the BEN 5000 design. It must be used in conjunction with the 558 Multi I/O board, as it is not compatible with either the 554 or 550 designs.

NOTES

Not all versions of this board are interchangeable.

Different versions need to be programmed in the configuration of the DFR.

This board has an EPROM that might have to be changed if an update is released.

When the 557 board was released, the BEN 5000 underwent a parts split and not all parts are interchangeable.
