FUNCTION

Gives the BEN 5000 the ability to use standard IEEE 802.1 Ethernet communications.

This NIC plugs into the CPU motherboard in a system using the 557 CPU.

Standard network connections to the BEN 5000 are using industry standard 10Base2 coaxial cable for maximum immunity to electrical interference. This connector is part of the 5043 Comm Isolation Board.

Optionally, systems have been made with other third party media converters, internal to the DFR - Fiber optic and 10Base2 UTP. In these cases the coaxial connector on the 5043 Comm Isolation Board is not used.
